Portrait of Allen Jay

Near High Point, N.C., Allen Jay is an elementary school and a neighborhood. Thanks to a donated portrait, people can learn that both were named after a real person, a Quaker minister who started schools and helped save farming communities that had been devastated by the Civil War.

Here's the Archdale-Trinity News article, "Allen Jay is a person, not just an elementary school."

Here's my previous post about Allen Jay, including his autobiography and his house.
